Bloggies 2007

Seventh Annual Weblog Awards

I thought a lot about whether I should do this or not, and my conclusion was “why not?”. So let’s go! The nomination to the Seventh Annual Weblog Awards, also known as Bloggies is open. I have no idea since when, but you have until 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) on Wednesday, January 10, 2005, to nominate your favourite weblogs. And since you are reading this I suppose that you appreciate my blog, am I right? (I hope so)

I though about waiting for my readers to suggest my blog, however I didn’t hear anything about 2007 Bloggies and I read this:

That Saturday, January 13, three panels of 50 voters will receive an e-mail. It will list the weblogs that have received the most nominations in ten categories. They will have until 10:00 PM EST on Thursday, January 18 to privately submit their five favorites (six for Weblog of the Year) for each category.
On Monday, January 22, the finalists will be announced and voting will be open again to choose the winners.

Since I want to increase my chances to be on that list I decided to blog about it. I know that I wasn’t a “super blogger” last year, that I disappeared for a while, but, in my humble opinion, I did great posts, found neat stuff for my audience and the content of this blog is very amusing (or isn’t it?). Anyway, if you think that this blog worth your visit, if you had good moments reading my posts and following the links, if some of my posts made your day anytime, if I made you laugh sometimes, be kind enough and “waste” some time to nominate Bibi’s box for the categories of Best Latin American Weblog and Best-Kept Secret Weblog.

I’m not asking your nice vote because of prizes, fame, money or all the women that comes with them. Actually, things changed this year and only the finalists of the last four categories of that list will win U$20,00. I’m in this for fun, to increase my self-esteem – be a recognized blogger is always great, to win new readers and for the links (I love new links, always!). So please spread this message to your friends too.

This year Bloggies changed two categories and added two new ones: Best Sports Weblog and >Best Weblog About Music. I know some blogs about music, but sports… anyway, you don’t have to vote for all the categories, but you have to suggest at least three different blogs to any categories. In case you are lost and don’t know other blogs to suggest (hein, how?), take a look at my blogroll in the main page or my subscriptions at Bloglines (not all the feeds of that list are blogs!). There are Asian, Canadian, American, British and even Australian blogs for you to choose on my lists.

I already nominated my favourite blogs, however I won’t talk about this here, because I’m afraid to make some of my fellows bloggers sad. That wasn’t my fault, I could only nominate three blogs for a category and my list of European, not British, blogs and American blogs is huge. I chose those that did a fantastic work last year and fit other blogs that I appreciate a lot in other categories, but that was tough. The good part is that there is no limit to the number of categories a weblog may be nominated for, so some of blogs “appeared” in 2, 3 or even 4 categories.

Well, that’s all folks! Thanks for the attention. Any questions?

I put in my nominations for you! I nominated a few other favorites, too.
I’m a little surprised they don’t have a straight “art blog” category.

I agree with Mark, and I was thinking about this: no art category!, Nothing about retro or vintage, or even videos. That’s a pity
